ordered my kindle 3, now can travel with a library of books and magazines without the weight and bulk……if the wifi or 3g work at all that is a bonus……

I’ve been very interested in getting an ereader, so thanks for the comparisons! alas, none of them really have many books for my college classes, so I’ll hold out a little longer.

  • webvid91 says:

does the 3g version need to have a specific plan for it or does it just work?

  • EndoskelletonT800 says:

great review lisa, but who need fast pageturns ? 1 sek would be enough fast for anyone ?
I mean how fast do you relly turn a page in a physic book ? ;)

  • MobileTechReview says:

@EndoskelletonT800 Personally, I agree with you. It’s certainly no slower than turning the pages of a print book.

  • cassnate6259 says:

Woah, that Kindle DX is HUGE!

  • rowelle says:

This might sound weird and a bit stalkerish but your voice is so relaxing.

  • nafester says:

@MobileTechReview On the one hand, I agree – the nook page turn rate seemed fine, even though it was significantly slower than the Kindle 3. That said, it’s always nicer to have it faster :) .

  • daivenluo says:

they need to make the kindle touch screen

  • nafester says:

@daivenluo I expect that’d push up the price for a feature that isn’t drastically necessary. One of the reasons I expect the Kindle 3 to be such a success is it does the things it does *very* well. Add too much unnecessary fluff and you head in to iPad territory, i.e. overpriced jack of all trades, master of none.

  • daivenluo says:

@nafester But there is no doubt that th iPad is pretty successful despite being ‘useless’ . Company are out to make a profit so a useless product is a successful product as long as it makes money. Kindle is done will but perhaps it will make more profit if it have touchscreen despite it being in your mind ‘useless’. After all profitability is what all business strive for despite the opinion of others on what their product should be.

  • nafester says:

@daivenluo While this is true, I think if the product tries to add features that put it more towards the featureset of the iPad it starts to have to compete with the iPad and that’s something I think is probably not a great idea. The Kindle is an eBook reader and at that it excels, its price is also at a point to make it an impulse buy for a lot of people. The iPad is so expensive that either you need to really want one, or to be a huge Apple fanboy :) .

  • kaled5 says:

Hi. Does it allow to put the ebooks that are at my PC or do I have to download it all from their store?

  • scryet1 says:

    great job:)

  • uberkewl19 says:

What’s your thought on spending extra for 3G?

  • mono1342 says:

your review proves that pdf reader function of 6-inch kindle is useless.

  • dabocx56 says:

could have made the keyboard a bit bigger -_- alot of empty space

  • phototristan says:

@dabocx56 Not really. That space is where your fingers are when holding and reading the device.

  • phototristan says:

@mono1342 Not totally useless. I read PDFs all the time on it and it’s better than not being able to.

  • phototristan says:

@daivenluo Jeff Bezos has said that would add a layer on top of the screen that would make it less clear.
